The update helps photographers narrow camera card scan results using remembered visual details

Shenzhen, China – 18th September 2026 – Wondershare Recoverit will release Recoverit 15.0 on 22nd of Sept., adding scene- and subject-based filtering to the software’s camera card recovery workflow. The update is designed to help photographers locate identified image files when visual details are remembered but the original filename is unknown.
Earlier versions primarily organized scan results by filename, file type and preview. Version 15.0 expands that process by allowing scan results to be narrowed according to a remembered scene or subject. A photographer searching for a portrait near a window, for example, can use those visual details to reduce the number of files requiring review.
The feature addresses a common challenge created by accidental in-camera deletion. When a camera deletes a photograph, it may remove the visible file reference without immediately erasing every trace of the underlying data. The image can remain recoverable until new photographs or video clips overwrite the same storage space. Continued use of the card can therefore reduce the possibility of restoring the deleted file.
“Scene- and subject-based filtering gives photographers another way to identify deleted images when filenames no longer provide enough context,” said Tobee Wu, founder and CEO of Wondershare. “The feature supports a recovery process centered on the original camera card, file previews and restoration to separate storage.”
The workflow is intended for camera cards and computer storage rather than phone data recovery. After a card is connected to a computer through a stable card reader, Recoverit can scan the original storage, identify deleted image files and generate previews before restoration. The preview stage helps users confirm a specific frame without restoring every file found during the scan.
Recoverit 15.0 also supports situations involving burst photography, paired RAW and JPEG files, and extended event sequences. In these cases, a deleted image may sit between related frames rather than appearing as an isolated file. Scene- and subject-based filtering can help narrow the scan to the relevant group while previews provide a way to compare identified images with nearby photographs.
The recommended recovery process begins when camera use stops and the memory card is removed. The card can then be connected to a computer, selected within the software’s SD Card Recovery section and scanned for recoverable images. Selected files are restored to a different drive so the original card remains unchanged during review and confirmation.
Following recovery, restored photographs can be opened in an image viewer or editor to verify that complete files were recovered rather than thumbnail data. For shoots captured in both RAW and JPEG formats, each version can be checked separately. Photographs belonging to a sequence can also be compared with adjacent frames to confirm that the intended set is intact.
Recovered images can then be placed in a dedicated project or catalog folder before further culling begins. Separating restored files from new captures helps preserve the recovery record and reduces the chance of mixing rescued photographs with images subsequently written to the same card. The release forms part of Wondershare’s continued development of desktop data recovery workflows for computers and removable storage devices.
